This guide covers the most common issues users encounter and how to resolve them quickly.
Connection Issues
Google Search Console Won't Connect
Symptoms: OAuth fails or no properties appear after connecting.
Solutions:
Ensure you're signing in with the Google account that has Search Console access
Verify your website is added as a property in Google Search Console
Try disconnecting and reconnecting the account
Clear your browser cache and try again
YouTube Connection Issues
Symptoms: Can't see your channel after connecting.
Solutions:
Make sure you're connecting with the Google account that owns the YouTube channel
Verify your channel has YouTube Studio access enabled
Check that your channel is not restricted or suspended
WordPress Connection Fails
Symptoms: "Website not found" or "Authentication failed" errors.
Solutions:
Verify your site uses HTTPS (SSL certificate required)
Check if REST API is enabled (visit yoursite.com/wp-json/ to test)
Use your WordPress username, not email address
Ensure the Application Password was copied correctly (including spaces)
Check if security plugins are blocking REST API access
Shopify Connection Fails
Symptoms: "Store not found" or "Permission denied" errors.
Solutions:
Use the myshopify.com domain format (yourstore.myshopify.com)
Verify the Admin API Access Token starts with "shpat_"
Ensure both read_content and write_content scopes are enabled
Confirm you clicked "Install app" after creating it
Credit Issues
"Insufficient Credits" Error
Symptoms: Operation fails with credit error message.
Solutions:
Check your credit balance in the sidebar or Profile β Usage
Purchase additional credits from the Credits page
Wait for monthly credits to reset at your billing date
Upgrade to a higher plan for more monthly credits
"No Active Subscription" Error
Symptoms: Can't use AI features, prompted to subscribe.
Solutions:
Subscribe to a plan from the Subscription page
If you had a subscription, check if it expired
For trial users: purchase a plan to continue after trial ends
Credits Not Showing After Purchase
Symptoms: Purchased credits but balance unchanged.
Solutions:
Wait 1-2 minutes for payment processing
Refresh the page
Check your email for payment confirmation
If still missing after 5 minutes, contact support
Content Generation Issues
Article Generation Takes Too Long
Symptoms: Generation spinner runs for extended time.
Solutions:
Comprehensive articles (2000-3000 words) take longer - this is normal
Check your internet connection
Try refreshing the page and resuming from the last saved step
For very long waits (10+ minutes), try starting a new project
Generated Content Doesn't Match Expectations
Symptoms: Content quality or style not as expected.
Solutions:
Create a Writing Style Profile with your preferences
Use Custom Instructions in Step 6 to guide the AI
Adjust Tone of Voice and Formality settings
Provide more specific keywords and content brief
AI Images Don't Match Brand
Symptoms: Generated images look off-brand.
Solutions:
Go to Workspace Settings and configure Visual Identity
Set your Primary and Secondary brand colors
Add Brand Guidelines describing your visual style
Upload your logo for reference
Publishing Issues
Article Fails to Publish to WordPress
Symptoms: Error when publishing or article doesn't appear.
Solutions:
Test your integration connection from the Integrations page
Verify the user account has publishing permissions
Check if your WordPress site is online and accessible
Try publishing as "Draft" first, then manually publish
Scheduled Post Published at Wrong Time
Symptoms: Post went live at unexpected time.
Solutions:
Verify you selected the correct Timezone in the scheduling step
Check the timezone settings in your CMS (WordPress/Shopify)
Kalema converts your local time to UTC for scheduling
Featured Image Not Appearing
Symptoms: Article publishes but without featured image.
Solutions:
Ensure "Add Featured Image" is enabled in Step 8
Try publishing again - image upload may have temporarily failed
Manually upload the featured image in your CMS
Analytics Issues
No Data Showing in Analytics
Symptoms: Analytics dashboard is empty.
Solutions:
Ensure Google Search Console or YouTube is connected
Select the correct property/channel from the dropdown
New sites may take time to accumulate Search Console data
Click Refresh to fetch latest data
Rank Tracking Not Updating
Symptoms: Tracked keywords showing old data.
Solutions:
Data refreshes every 24 hours automatically
Click the Refresh button to force an update
Search Console data has a 2-3 day delay from Google
