Getting Started
What is Kalema?
Kalema is an AI-powered SEO and content creation platform. It helps you create optimized articles, analyze competitors, track rankings, and publish content directly to your website.
Do I need technical skills to use Kalema?
No. Kalema is designed for non-technical users. The step-by-step wizards guide you through every process.
What do I need to get started?
Just create an account and subscribe to a plan. To use analytics features, you'll need to connect Google Search Console. For publishing, you'll need WordPress or Shopify credentials.
Subscriptions & Credits
What's the difference between monthly and purchased credits?
Monthly credits come with your subscription and reset each billing period. Purchased credits are one-time purchases that last 12 months. Monthly credits are used first to prevent expiration.
Do unused credits roll over?
Monthly subscription credits do not roll over - they reset each billing period. Purchased credits remain until used or until they expire (12 months).
What happens if I run out of credits?
You can purchase additional credit packages or wait for your monthly credits to reset. Without credits, AI features will not work.
Can I downgrade my plan?
No, Kalema only allows upgrades. If you want a lower plan, you would need to cancel and resubscribe after your current period ends.
What is the Trial?
The Trial is a $3 purchase that gives you 60 permanent credits to test the platform. Trial credits never expire. You can only purchase the trial once per account.
Content Creation
What's the difference between Blog and AutoBlog?
Blog creates one article at a time with full control at each step. AutoBlog creates multiple articles automatically with bulk scheduling - ideal for content at scale.
What's the difference between Normal Mode and Pro Mode?
Normal Mode generates content quickly with standard optimization. Pro Mode provides advanced SEO analysis, competitor research, and deeper optimization but uses more credits.
How long does it take to generate an article?
Brief articles (800-1200 words) take 2-4 minutes. Comprehensive articles (2000-3000 words) can take 5-10 minutes depending on complexity.
Can I edit the generated content?
Yes. The editor allows full editing of all generated content. You can modify text, headings, images, and links before publishing.
What is a Writing Style Profile?
A Writing Style Profile saves your preferred tone, formality, and formatting settings. Select it as your "Preferred Writer" to auto-fill settings and maintain consistent brand voice.
SEO & Analytics
How do I connect Google Search Console?
Go to Analytics, click Connect, and authorize with your Google account. Then select the property (website) you want to track.
Why is my Analytics data empty?
New websites may not have enough Search Console data yet. Google typically needs a few weeks to collect meaningful data. Also verify you've selected the correct property.
What are Low-Hanging Fruits?
Keywords where you rank on page 2 (positions 11-20). These are opportunities for quick wins - with small improvements, you could reach page 1.
What is Kalema Impact?
Kalema Impact shows the performance of articles you created or optimized with Kalema. Add URLs to Rank Tracking with "Kalema New" or "Kalema Optimized" source to see them here.
Publishing
Which CMS platforms are supported?
Kalema supports WordPress (self-hosted) and Shopify. More platforms may be added in the future.
Do I need to publish through Kalema?
No. You can copy the generated content and manually paste it into any platform. Direct publishing is a convenience feature.
Can I schedule posts for the future?
Yes. In the publishing step, select "Scheduled" and choose your date, time, and timezone. The article will publish automatically.
What timezone should I select?
Select the timezone you want the article to publish in. Kalema will convert this to UTC for accurate scheduling with your CMS.
Workspaces
What is a workspace?
A workspace is a container for a single website or project. Each workspace has its own settings, integrations, and content.
Can I have multiple workspaces?
Yes, depending on your plan. Starter allows 1 workspace, Pro allows 3, and Agency allows 10.
Can I share a workspace with my team?
Currently, workspaces are tied to individual accounts. Team collaboration features may be added in the future.
Images
What's the difference between AI Images and Google Images?
AI Images are custom-generated to match your content and brand. Google Images finds existing relevant images from the web.
How do I get AI images that match my brand?
Configure your Visual Identity in Workspace Settings. Add your logo, brand colors, and brand guidelines. AI image generation will use these to create matching visuals.
Can I use my own images?
Yes. You can disable automatic image sourcing and manually add images in the editor.
